An illicit birth. Heirship to two empires. But more: for this child may have power to govern the ships of wonder sent by the Gods. Ships of power. And always there are those who would do anything for power. Even send a demon out of the pit and ruthless armed zealots to chase down a young girl. Shanga-the child of the ships-must stay one step ahead of her pursuers, while her mother Reonlo seeks a way to destroy the demon and their fear once and for all. (This is the first part of the three-volume story 'Seachild.')
