In “Praying Like Monks”, “Living Like Fools”, Tyler Staton discusses five historic Christian practices that will help followers of Jesus connect with the wondrous, mysterious, living God through prayer.
Prayer is the source of Jesus' most astonishing miracles and the subject of his most audacious promises. Yet most people, even most Bible-believing Christians, find prayer to be boring, obligatory, disappointing, confusing, or, most often, all of the above. But it doesn't have to be this way!
“Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools” is an invitation to step into the wonder of prayer and trade these misconceptions for a vital, sustaining, powerful, life-changing connection with God. In this study, Tyler Staton-author, pastor, and national director of the 24/7 Prayer movement, shares several common roadblocks to prayer that he faced in his own life and the biblical practices he implemented that enabled him to view his relationship with God in a completely new way.
Through biblical teaching, storytelling, and insights on historic Christian practices, participants will: (1) learn how to express doubts and disappointments about prayer; (2) discover multiple postures of prayer, including silence, persistence, and confession; (3) embrace the wonder of prayer in everyday life; and (4) reopen lines of communication with their Creator and experience afresh his divine power on earth.
