About
From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Corrigan and debut author Claire Corrigan Lichty comes a new picture book about an amazing inventor!
Marianne is an inventor. So when her Dad signs her up for soccer, she's not exactly thrilled. She can't kick a ball and she can think of just about a million other things she'd rather do. So when she tells a clever lie to get out of her game, she thinks that she is free to start working on her latest invention. But when her Dad catches on, she has to come clean. Can Marianne prove that inventing is what she was destined to do?
Told in delightful bouncing rhyme and with gorgeous collage-style illustrations and hidden details throughout from George Sweetland, Marianne the Maker is sure to speak to the creative inventor that lives inside all of us. Kelly Corrigan has been called "the voice of her generation" by O: The Oprah Magazine and "the poet laureate of the ordinary" by HuffPost. She is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Middle Place, Lift, and Glitter and Glue. She is also the creative director of the Nantucket Project and host of their conversation series about what matters most. She lives near Oakland, California, with her husband, Edward Lichty, and her daughters, Georgia and Claire.
Claire Corrigan Lichty is a student at The University of Virginia, studying computer science and theater. Marianne the Maker is her first book.
George Sweetland is a freelance illustrator and has illustrated over ten children's picture books. When he isn't illustrating or teaching elementary school students, he's having dance parties and watching movies with his wife, two sons, and their energetic golden doodle in their home in Connecticut.
