About

Yes, this is a book about breast cancer.
But before you run away, hear me out.
I think you'll be glad you did.
You'll laugh. You might even snort-laugh. You'll feel hopeful. And you'll finally have your curiosity answered: what is it really like to be diagnosed with cancer?
Because cancer seems to be everywhere these days. It affects friends, neighbours, colleagues, sisters, mothers, daughters, husbands and wives. Yet most of us have very little idea what it's actually like until we're sitting in that chair and someone says the words, 'Yes, it's cancer.'
And trust me, it sounds very different when it's you.
This is the story of my breast cancer diagnosis and everything that followed: the scans, the surgery, the radiation treatment, the endless appointments, the waiting, the worrying, the unexpected kindness, and the many moments that were funny, ridiculous, frustrating and strangely fascinating.
This isn't a doom-and-gloom book. It's honest, funny and hopeful, a front-row seat to an experience that millions of people go through but few of us truly understand until it arrives on our own doorstep.
Cancer is not something I would ever have chosen, but I can honestly say it has been one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life.
Whether you're dealing with breast cancer yourself, supporting someone who is, or simply curious about what it's really like, I hope this book leaves you feeling informed, reassured and perhaps even a little more appreciative of ordinary everyday life.
Because here's what I've learned:
A cancer diagnosis is not automatically a death sentence.
Life doesn't stop. There is still laughter, joy and hope. And there is still plenty of living left to do.
Yes, life is good, even while dealing with breast cancer.
