If We Can't Have Forever

I had only one goal. Survive.

I've spent years simply trying to disappear. Don't make waves. Don't be too loud. It's the only way I know how to survive in this cruel, loveless marriage. I never let myself believe there could be a way out, not until he stepped foot on my property. He was only meant to be here to help train one of the horses on this ranch and then leave, but Silas Knight can't see a problem and walk away from it. I tried to pretend I was okay, that I didn't need help but that all comes tumbling down when I'm left with no choice but to run. And there's only one place I can go.

I just need time and a place to get myself back on my feet and Silas offers that and more. Now I'm living here with him and his two adorable kids. I tell myself it's only temporary, that I will be leaving eventually but with every day that passes, the more I'm wondering if there's a possibility of forever here in Sunstone Ridge. We both have reasons not to fall in love and we're both a little broken and yet when he looks at me, he makes me forget all the hurt in the past. It makes me believe that maybe, just maybe, we could have forever. But life is unpredictable and messy and all those things we try to run from have a way of catching up with us. And not every love is meant to last.
