Full Flight

Expect the unexpected.

Dr. Monifa McKnight found her passion in education. After four years as a middle school

principal, she rose through the ranks and became a deputy superintendent, then the first

woman to serve as superintendent in one of the largest districts in the nation.

However, what followed tested her leadership in ways few could anticipate: a global

pandemic, political pressure, and the additional barriers Black women in positions of power

are forced to confront and overcome.

In Full Flight, Dr. McKnight shares candid stories and hard-won lessons from her own career

and the experiences of other pioneering leaders. This practical guide gives organizations and

industries concrete recommendations to build cultures that recruit, support, and sustain Black

women and women in leadership.

You'll learn how to navigate conflict, manage political forces, lead through chaos, and stay

grounded in your values.

Leadership is rarely predictable. But with the right preparation, you can still rise-and soar.
