From the PEN/America Award winner, Guggenheim fellow, and beloved literary and tarot icon Michelle Tea, a daring, revelatory, and wildly entertaining chronicle of polyamory and her experience as a longtime member of the community.
In recent years, polyamory has become a topic of fascination for the general public, and not just for younger people as the established lines around sexuality shift and evolve. Indeed, as the iconic Michelle Tea explores in this groundbreaking and engrossing book, polyamory has long enjoyed a great deal of popularity in many social scenes formerly deemed "underground" or "alternative." Tea herself has been a member of the community for years, in her former home in the Bay Area and now in Los Angeles, where she currently lives, and as such, she is able to explore the complexity and beauty and affirmation of this practice with candor, humor, and deep appreciation.
Combining her prodigious skills as a storyteller, deep research, and the kind of gonzo reporting that has earned her scores of dedicated readers-not to mention her status as one of the go-to sources on tarot, which has made her book Modern Tarot a popular staple-Tea takes us into the lives and hearts of those who are creating new relationship systems and forms of honest, ethical communication.
Infused with the warmth and introspection that inform all of her various artistic practices, Free Love is Tea's clarion call for greater visibility, acceptance, and a kinder, more sensual world. It is an unforgettable narrative from one of our most spirited ethnographers.
