About

A funny, revealing, and powerful new memoir from comedian, author, and actress Sarah Cooper

As a Jamaican immigrant, Sarah believed the key to success was being as "American" as possible. So she became as American as possible, like any hardworking Jamaican would. She found a job at Google, got married, and planned to have kids and forget her dreams. But luckily none of that worked out, which she celebrates in a piece for the book called "Thank God for My Broken Uterus."

Now, in her hilarious debut memoir, Sarah describes how assimilating made her feel lost, but when she risked looking foolish, it led to finding herself. From her brave fifth-grade coming out story, "Mama? Papa? I Think I'm Black," to her struggles with "The Immigrant to Basic Bitch Pipeline" to how her life changed after playing the ultimate fool in those comical lip-synching videos of Donald Trump, Cooper's first memoir shows you that sometimes looking foolish is the smartest thing you can do. SARAH COOPER, who has 3.3 million social media followers across combined platforms, is a writer, producer, actress, and author of the books How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men's Feelings: Non-Threatening Leadership Strategies for Women and 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings: How to Get by Without Even Trying, titles which are both in development for TV series. Sarah built her comedy career in between working for companies like Yahoo and Google, where she was fed free lunches and lots of material. She was named one of Variety's "10 Comics to Watch for 2020" and one of Vulture's "The Comedians You Should and Will Know in 2020." Her current projects include Unfrosted, an upcoming Netflix comedy written by, directed by, and starring Jerry Seinfeld; and The Wanderers, an off-Broadway play at the Roundabout Theatre, costarring Katie Holmes.
