Glen Henry, a nationally renowned speaker and influencer with more than 4 million followers on social media, invites readers to believe in the power of fatherhood-and to see themselves transformed by that role. With his trademark authenticity and humor, he uses stories and teaching to show readers how to become the fathers their kids need. Glen Henry never wanted to be a father. He grew up in a broken home and assumed that the role was worthless. Then he saw what a good father looked like. Glen became passionate not only about being a good father himself but about helping others see what fatherhood could be through his wildly popular YouTube channel, Beleaf in Fatherhood. In his debut book Glen offers the humor and practical takeaways that his 4 million followers love as he equips them to be the fathers their kids deserve. From the messy moments to the deepest questions, Father Yourself First covers six keys of the fatherhood journey and helps readers •father themselves to maintain a healthy inner voice, •parent from a place of healing by addressing unresolved issues from their own past, •connect with their children by embracing childishness and adventure, •identify their children's unique gifts early on and help fine-tune their skills into productive habits, and •establish a community of fathers to exchange values and practices and regularly see examples of healthy fatherhood.
Father Yourself First restores the reader's belief in their ability to be a good father. As Glen writes to fellow dads, "Whether you never saw yourself as a father or whether you've always dreamed of kids sticking things in your ears, I can promise you this: Fatherhood will change you in ways you didn't see coming. In good ways, if you let it. In ways you'll be grateful for forever."
