Here are the good Doctor's three exciting tales of world travel, beginning with his greatest adventure. In The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle, winner of the prestigious Newbery Medal, the Doctor and his young assistant, Tommy Stubbins, travel in search of the brilliant naturalist Long Arrow, culminating in a meeting with the most fabled creature of all, the Great Glass Sea Snail! The Story of Doctor Dolittle details how the Doctor came to learn the languages of animals, and how he was called to Africa where he meets the rarest of all beasts, the marvelous two-headed pushmi-pullyu! And in another African adventure, Doctor Dolittle's Post Office, the Doctor establishes the only postal service in the world where birds deliver the mail! Hugh Lofting (January 1886–September 1947) was a British author who created the beloved and timeless character of Doctor Dolittle. His stories have inspired several major motion pictures over the last sixty years, and many household names-including Rex Harrison, Eddie Murphy, and Robert Downey Jr.-have taken on the titular role. He is also the author of several other books for children.
James Langton trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and later as a musician at the Guildhall School in London. He has worked in radio, film and television, also appearing in theater in England and on Broadway. James was born in York, England and now lives in New York City. "Narrator James Langton embodies the exuberant fun and charm of three classic stories: 'The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle,' 'The Story of Doctor Dolittle,' and 'Doctor Dolittle's Post Office.' Langston's tone reflects the heartfelt emotions of the endearing, excitable, eccentric naturalist who communicates with animals. Sweeping listeners along on thrilling world-travel adventures, Langton creates distinct and memorable voices for each human and animal the good doctor meets."
