A broke ex–Star Corps pilot. A dry, no-nonsense robot he refuses to call a partner. A "simple" smuggling job with a crate full of illegal pulse weapons hidden in the cheese. John MacAlister gambled his pension on a cargo hauler and a plan: haul freight, stay legal, rebuild his life. Three days in, he's broke, blacklisted, and taking advice from a secondhand robot with an attitude problem. When a Moon crime boss offers him one job - just cheese, nothing to worry about - John learns the first rule of smuggling: always check the cargo. Dischord is the prequel to The John & Alvis Sessions, a sci-fi adventure and humor series about a gut-driven privateer and his logic-driven robot partner, packed with sharp banter, desperate choices, and wins that never come clean.
