From social media star and home decor expert Clare Sullivan comes an exciting and approachable DIY book that proves you don't need a massive budget to create beauty and comfort in your home.
A few years ago Clare Sullivan woke up from her unfulfilling corporate job, and picked up a pencil and piece of paper to sketch out what her future might look like instead. After graduating from Parsons with a degree in design she realized that she loved luxury interior design but wanted to create more affordable options open to all. Having gained a large social media following after launching her TikTok account in 2021, Clare is perhaps best known for her "Budget Luxury" series, which shows her audience how to create beautiful spaces without spending a lot of money.
Now in Budget Luxury, Clare equips readers with everything they need to know to create a beautiful home, regardless of whether they rent or own, how much space they have, and whether or not they've ever used a power tool. She introduces readers to basic design rules and styles, helping them distill their own style (even if that means breaking some of those rules!). She recommends creating a budget, using thrifted materials throughout, and gives shopping advice for those looking to scour flea markets and vintage stores for the perfect project materials at a low cost.
Clare inspires us to create a more personal, meaningful home with projects such as:
• Planning, designing, styling, and hanging a gallery wall without f*cking up your wallpaper
• Creating a no-sew, custom bed canopy
• Paneling hallway walls to create a welcoming entryway
• Stenciling bathroom floors and paint kitchen cabinets
• Planting an easy-to-care-for indoor herb garden
• Shopping for furniture, decor, and art with Clare's expert tips and tricks
Through the concepts of intention, curation, and resourcefulness, Budget Luxury will empower readers to create a home they love. Clare Sullivan is an interior designer and content creator with an audience of more than a million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. She received her MFA in interior design from Parsons School of Design.
