So much for finding herself after her divorce: Instead, forty-eight-year-old witch-in-training Bex Merriweather has her hands full running a lending library and secretly studying magic under the critical eye of her opinionated familiar, cat Cosmo. All while navigating The Change.
The last thing Bex wants is more chaos. But when a podcast links Willowmere to a legendary pirate treasure, including the formula for transmutation, treasure hunters and occultists descend on the town. They're all convinced the hidden riches belong to them.
When a man claiming to possess a treasure map is found slain with an axe, the police believe they know who the killer is. Bex's magic disagrees-and Cosmo insists it's their duty to prove it.
But if Bex can't uncover the truth, the killer might strike again. With only her familiar, her trusted circle of friends, and the aid of a few spells, Bex sets out to catch the killer before the treasure claims another victim.
Welcome to Willowmere, where pirate treasure, inherited magic, and murder keep even a talking cat on his toes.
