A delayed train. A secret elopement. One unexpected night that may change several lives forever.
Mary Dunlap is traveling by train to fulfill a speaking engagement when mechanical trouble brings the journey to an abrupt halt. What first appears to be an inconvenient delay soon places her in the path of a young couple whose hurried marriage is beginning to unravel.
Daisy Keller has left home believing she is beginning a romantic new life. But as the night unfolds, doubts surface about the man she has chosen and the future awaiting her. Observant, compassionate, and guided by a deeply rooted faith, Mary realizes that the frightened young woman may need more than reassurance-she may need someone willing to intervene.
What follows is a story of deception, difficult choices, maternal love, perseverance, and the possibility that an interruption can become an unexpected act of providence.
Completed and published in 1929 with editorial assistance from Grace Livingston Hill, *An Interrupted Night* reflects Isabella M. Alden's enduring tradition of Christian fiction: everyday people confronting moral choices with courage, compassion, and faith.
