1. Summer

Summer in Yellowstone is a time of warmth and light. More than any other season, it brings an abundance of life to the park, from flowering plants and insects to hungry grizzly bears, curious coyotes and herds of elk.

2. Fall

Fall is a season of change in Yellowstone. The park bursts with vivid colors. Some of its residents take advantage of the last few remaining lazy days of summer, while others prepare for the snowy season ahead, including finding a mate.

Winter is by far the longest season of Yellowstone as well as its cruelest. Only the toughest and cleverest survive the cold, starvation and competition.

4. Melt

Winter slowly releases its cold grasp on Yellowstone, but spring is slow to arrive. The sun melts the snow and ice, waking the park and its residents from a deep winter slumber. With the thaw comes water, and with water comes an abundance of food.

5. Spring

The warmth of spring brings new life and energy to Yellowstone. Bears come out of hiding. Babies of all shapes and sizes explore their incredible new world. Every resident is eager to enjoy this magical time full of promise.
