1. Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta's designs have become synonymous with opulent aesthetics and clean lines, and his creations – from couture and ready-to-wear to fragrances and accessories – have been honored time after time by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. What began as an apprenticeship with the renowned Spanish couturier, Balenciaga, de la Renta's early career sent him jet-setting to Paris and New York to work among the likes of Lanvin, Christian Dior, and Balmain. 2. Julien Macdonald

Welsh-born Julien Macdonald launched his namesake label in 1997 and immediately attracted the attention of glamorous women across the globe, including Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, and Bianca Jagger. Initially, Macdonald found fame as a textile designer and was recruited to spin ethereal designs for the Chanel and Lagerfeld collections from 1996 to 1998, and was later appointed chief designer at Givenchy in Paris in 2001. The rightfully titled "King of Bling," has since expanded beyond knits, controversially incorporating fur into his enchanting collections and injecting high-energy glitz into his wildly anticipated London Fashion Week shows.

For a young designer, with the burden and benefit of a famous name, Stella McCartney's start in business was inauspicious. Taking over the reins of Chloe from designer Karl Lagerfeld would have been overwhelming for most young designers, but for Stella, ignorance was bliss. In 2001, Tom Ford's Gucci group offered Stella the chance to return to designing a line under her own name. Over the last ten years, the glamorous young business woman, and her chic brand, have continued to develop, with an emphasis on streamlined, effortlessly sexy fashion for the modern woman.

There is no denying the limitless talent of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the young design duo behind the Proenza Schouler label. Establishing their fashion house in 2002, they received immediate success. The brilliant pair continues to invigorate the American fashion industry with their edgy approach to luxury. Excelling at merging craftsmanship and sophistication with a youthful sensuality, they have earned a devoted celebrity following and numerous awards. In 2007, as well as in 2011, McCollough and Hernandez were awarded the Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. With their designs available in over 100 outlets, and generating more than 50 million dollars in annual revenue last year, the once emerging brand has staked its claim on the 21st century!

6. Temperley London

With timelessly feminine frocks and embellished separates, Temperley London's designs coolly count Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa Middleton and Heidi Klum as iconic devotees. Launched in 2001 by British-born designer and Royal College of Art alum Alice Temperley, the House of Temperley has since incorporated bridal and lifestyle into its signature, finding favor among editors, high end luxury stores and international fashion darlings, and operating stores in London, Los Angeles, and Dubai.
