Detective Douglas Archer, forced to work under the brutal SS in London, is determined to continue to do his job in the service of his country.

It is 1941 and the Germans have won the Battle of Britain. Detective Douglas Archer finds himself working under the brutal SS in occupied London. Scotland Yard sends Archer to investigate the murder of a black marketeer. When the glamorous US journalist Barbara Barga is spotted at the scene of the crime, Archer's gut feeling is confimred - that this crime is far bigger than it would appear.

A meeting with Himmler and Huth's boss, Professor Springer, underlines to Archer why the SS desperately needs to track down the elusive Dr. John Spode.

Breaking the curfew, Archer stays the night and Barbara convinces him not to turn the Resistance down - he knows too much, they could kill him. Archer's call for a police car home is intercepted by Huth and he is driven through early morning London to a huge aerodrome. There he finds a guarded hanger and Huth together with his superior, Professor Maximilian Springer.
