About

Christopher Eccleston and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in this intricate conspiracy thriller set in a world of blurred morality, inhabited by conflicted characters on both sides of the law. Detective Inspector Jonah Gabriel returns to work after a near fatal shooting to investigate the murder of Harvey Wratten, head of a major criminal organization. On the other side of the line Joseph Bede, an associate of Wratten's, is planning to risk everything he has on one last drugs deal.

Two years ago Harvey Wratten, one of the UK's biggest crime lords, was imprisoned. His nephew and employee, Jay Wratten, had bought 200 kilos of heroin and made a mistake, which lead to their arrests. But after serving only 2 years they received a Royal Pardon. After only 4 hours of freedom Harvey Wratten is murdered. Detective Inspector Jonah Gabriel is assigned the case having just returned to work after being shot during an undercover operation.

Julie and Joseph Bede meet with her doctor who delivers devastating news, that Julie's Alzheimer's is getting progressively worse and she has only six months to a year to live. Jonah Gabriel explains to the parents of his former partner, Delaney, how he has no recollection of the shooting that killed their son, or the circumstances that found them in that situation due to the bullet lodged in his brain.

Andy Dixon, scared and isolated, finally breaks cover and calls Sara which allows the police to put a trace on the call. A chase ensues through City Park, with Gabriel, Honey and Jay Wratten all trying to reach Andy. Andy panics and calls his mum - who calls Gatehouse. On Gatehouse's orders, Andy Dixon meets Jay Wratten and tells him that after picking up Wratten, he had driven him to meet someone at the car park where he was shot.

Bede meets with Harris and tells him that he wants to do business. Jay Wratten goes to Bede to tell him that Bob Harris was responsible for Wratten's murder. Bede reiterates his desire to be out of the game after one last deal. Gabriel and his wife Laura are trying another round of IVF. Bede's beloved wife Julie's Alzheimer's is deteriorating. Journalist McGovern express his suspicions about illegal police activity to Sergeant Foley.

5. Episode 5

Petra, Glickman's girlfriend, visits Bede. He's never heard of her, but Glickman kept his world separate. She wants his help to find Glickman. Jay Wratten visits Glickman's son Leonard and asks if his father would like to keep his first grandchild safe... Gatehouse has bugged Leonard's office and listens as Leonard panic calls his wife, Frieda. Gatehouse goes to Leonard's house where he plays an evil game with Frieda and the baby.

6. Episode 6

Joseph Bede and Petra Mayler meet at his flower factory. They both have no regrets about what happened between them. Gabriel and his wife Laura are at the hospital having a scan. He takes a call from Peter Glickman, who tells him to "follow the drugs". He does. Gabriel and Honey learn that Delaney had stolen coded drugs from the evidence room.
