1. Risky Business

After Margaret complains that she and Sadie had a lacklustre summer, Sadie comes up with a "risk list" that will make their first days back at school a little more exciting. While Margaret breezes through the challenges, Sadie finds it increasingly difficult, especially when it comes to the final risk: asking Owen out. Her predicament is only made worse by the fact that she finds herself strangely attracted to the new kid in school - Ben Harrison. Meanwhile, Hal mentors Rain in the Tao of Hal, a "philosophy" that should help Rain get closer to his crush, Vivian.

2. Year of the Dragon

In an attempt to raise money to save the endangered Komodo Dragon, Sadie organizes a dance with the Students Activity Council. However, Arden Alcott, the most popular girl in school, only seems to like Ben's plans for the dance and not Sadie's.

Sadie's parents are going out on Friday night and so is Hal. Sadie gets the house all to herself. But her plans for a fun night are ruined by a strange pact between Rain and Margaret; concerned that people think they're a couple because they're so similar, they pledge to be as different as possible and to always disagree with one another.

It's a busy week for Sadie as she tries to juggle homework, helping Margaret, Hal and even her parents with their respective projects. Ben warns her that maybe she's taking on too much. But a stubborn Sadie doesn't think so until she agrees to help Owen with an assignment, which turns out to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

5. The Upside of Anger

Feeling that they haven't been spending enough quality time together, Jean signs up Sadie and herself for a self-defense class. Not thrilled about having to go alone with her mom, Sadie convinces her friends to join too.

6. Election

When Ben convinces Sadie to run for student president, Sadie agrees. With Ben as her campaign manager, Rain as her spin doctor, Margaret as her image consultant and some noble ideas, Sadie's convinced she can win. But internal differences lead to her firing Ben and him running against her!
