Fresh off his success catching a headline-grabbing killer, DCI Colin Sutton (Martin Clunes, Doc Martin) is on the brink of retirement when he's asked to review the long-running inquiry into another infamous predator. Known as "The Night Stalker" to the press and "Minstead Man" to the police, this serial rapist has stalked the elderly of Southeast London for nearly two decades.

Many at the Metropolitan Police view the inquiry as a poisoned chalice: high-profile but unsolvable crimes sure to sully Sutton's career at its pinnacle. Despite that risk, Colin can't help but commit himself to the investigation. Inspired by insights from his wife (Claudie Blakely, Pride & Prejudice), a police data analyst, Colin applies a new approach to the case, hoping to crack it open at last and end the attacker's 17-year reign of terror. 1. Part 1

DCI Colin Sutton is tasked with reviewing Operation Minstead, an 11-year inquiry to catch the "Night Stalker," a notorious serial rapist active in Southeast London. Colin questions the team's focus on DNA but also realizes how inadequate their resources are for an investigation of this scale. When an attack that fits a lot of the criteria is screened out, Colin's instincts yield a new lead.

2. Part 2

Although disappointed the CCTV has not given a clearer image of their suspect, Colin plows on. He presents his review findings to DCS Hamish Campbell and suggests a strategy called "Minstead Lite," to utilize their scarce resources to best effect. But Hamish wants Colin to stay on to see this new approach through. Will Colin be able to deliver on his promises?

3. Part 3

Colin sets about convincing the Force Tasking Group to fund his high-stakes gamble. Not only is it expensive, but there's absolutely no guarantee it will work. As the surveillance operation begins, several frustrating near misses point to new clues but might also prompt Minstead Man to go to ground again.
