Not all quilts need to end with a plain binding! In this class, taught by art quilter Heather Thomas, you will learn 10 different techniques for adding edges and finishes to your quilted projects:

Iron-on Curved Edge Binding

Whether it's a Two Toned Double French Binding or Burnt Edges, each of these techniques can add some extra beauty or funkiness to the edges of your quilts.

1. Session 1: Introduction

In this session Heather will introduce the idea of alternative edges for quilts, show several samples and talk about the various products and supplies that will be used to execute the ten different edge and finishes that will be done in the class.

2. Session 2: Seven Funky Edges

In the session Heather will show five samples of techniques that will not actually be demonstrating in the class. However, they are interesting and easy enough to grasp from a verbal description of how they are done. These techniques include the following; Frayed edge backing with dyed batting, Dyed batting, Alternating Width Zigzag, Traditional Facing and Turned Quilt Edge with hand stitching.

3. Session 3: Tradition with a Twist

Watch as Heather demonstrates three different edge techniques that are based on some timeworn traditional finishing techniques. These include; Satin Stitch with Rattail, Two Tone Double French Binding and Sandwich Facing with a Wavy Edge.
