When Eve gets a call from DCI Craig Hale asking for her help investigating an unusual crime scene, she sees an opportunity to bring much needed funding to The Body Farm, but her decision to work with the police on real crime scenes will take her team out of their comfort zone.

The team discover the body of Jason, a young male prostitute, dumped in the estate of wealthy businessman, Harold Penton. Evidence suggests that someone had sex with Jason shortly before his death, but the exact cause is difficult to identify as he had a host of diseases.

The body of a dead man, later identified as 35 year old Connor Ryan, crew member of a fishing trawler, is found floating at sea. When Eve arrives at the harbour to examine the body, Hale tells her that the trawler and the other crew members Patsy Fay and Tom Wilkes, a marine biologist, are missing.
