In the Big House, Lesley and Nick in Derby are struggling to sell their five bedroom property and have decided to spend £30k to open up their kitchen and carry out some much needed home improvements. It's a last roll of the dice to sell up and get their retirement fund. In the Little House, Adrian and Mel in Gosport have grown tired of the dark, rundown kitchen. They have just 10k to renovate with Adrian taking on most of the work himself

School attendance officer Tracey, in the Big House in Bedfordshire, has 40k to turn her empty loft into a bedroom with study and en-suite for teenage daughter Amy who needs her own space. She also wants to add some serious value to her home. Builder Steve and partner Lindsay in the Little House have 25k to transform their attic into a luxurious master bedroom with plenty of storage to help with the clutter. In order to save on costs, Steve is doing a lot of the work himself.

Little House couple Ryan and his wife Gemma from Lancashire have just 10k to build an extension onto the back of their three bed semi to create a bigger kitchen/diner and living space. With a baby on the way time is tight with laborer Ryan calling in favors from friends and doing a lot of the work himself. Iman and Heather in the Big House have 50k to extend out the back of their Cheshire home. They want to get rid of their dated kitchen and create an open plan space for their growing family.
