About

Kiyo Takamine is an average, but isolated, 14-year old genius, until he meets Zatch Bell - a mamodo (demon) sent to Earth to decide the next King of the Mamodo World. Every 1,000 years, mamodo are sent to Earth in search for a human partner that is able to read their spell book. Using their own emotions as an energy source, humans can cast powerful spells from the book to their mamodo - the last one standing becomes the next King!

Kiyo is beginning to think that Zatch, who shoots lightning from his mouth, is way too much trouble to bring to school. On the way home, Kiyo and Zatch run into Hosokawa and Reycom. Hosokawa says 'I'm not after you, Kiyo, just that kid Zatch.'
