Set in a Denver suburb, "The Bill Engvall Show" stars comedian Bill Engvall as a family counselor who can't always figure out his own family. In the second season premiere, Bill (series star BILL ENGVALL) and his wife, Susan (series star NANCY TRAVIS), realize the kids have been receiving an allowance but not helping out around the house to earn it. So they decide to make them clean the garage for free. His son, Trent (series regular GRAHAM PATRICK MARTIN) and teenage daughter, Lauren (series regular JENNIFER LAWRENCE) balk at the injustice and decide to go on strike, setting up a battle of wills between them and their parents. Meanwhile, Bill feels he has been unfairly treated by a cell phone store when he and Susan both complain about the same problem, but Susan manages to convince the store to give her a fancy new phone for free.
2. Ask Your Mother

Bill is bothered that the kids keep asking Susan for permission to do things rather than asking him. When he decides to take on half the "permission-granting" authority himself, the kids start taking advantage of him. Meanwhile, Paul (series star TIM MEADOWS) is upset after a girl he's interested in cancels a date with him because she "has the flu." He seems completely unable to work the DuFrayne charms with all of today's new technology. And the Pearsons' neighbor, Mr. Faulkner (guest star BRIAN DOYLE MURRAY), is on Bill's bad side over the issue of some missing fruit.
3. No Gifts, Please
30m
Bill and Susan's anniversary is coming up, and Susan floats the idea that maybe this year they shouldn't buy gifts for each other. After being married for 19 years, it's getting harder and harder to find just the right gift. Bill agrees, but then he begins to wonder if she really meant it, - especially after Paul convinces him it's a trap. When Susan does indeed buy a gift, it turns out to be something Bill wouldn't be caught dead wearing. Lauren and Bryan (series regular SKYLER GISONDO), meanwhile, are fed up with Trent, whose poor sleeping habits are interfering with their lives.
4. Pineblock Derby
30m
Bill agrees to help Bryan build his pineblock derby car, but his wood-working skills leave a lot to be desired. When Paul winds up making the car, he and Bill don't let on that Bill didn't make it. Lauren's new friend, Erica (guest star CHELSEA STAUB - Bratz), takes a liking to Trent, but it turns out she has ulterior motives.
5. Susan's Best Friend
30m
After going through a divorce, Susan's best friend, AJ (guest star CYNTHIA WATROS), comes for a visit in her "vanabago." It's not long after she arrives that her flighty, spontaneous personality, which has never set well with Bill, starts to make him worry that he and Susan might be in a rut. And it's going to take a lot of creativity -- even a salsa dancing lesson -- to get them out.
6. Bill Talks a Good Game
30m
After usually letting Trent win at basketball, Bill suddenly discovers Trent can beat him without any help, which is a blow to Bill's ego, manhood and youth. Susan sees her best friend, AJ, connect better with Lauren, and Susan seeks the same kind of connection. But Lauren refuses to talk to her about the same kind of thing she tells AJ. And Bryan is determined to rid the house of any possible hazards.
