About
In an effort to identify the person behind a string of murdered miners, Tex infiltrates a gang and finds himself accused of the crime instead.
1936 American Adventure Western film directed by John P. McCarthy. It stars Tex Ritter, this film being part of his debut as a singing cowboy.
Tex Ritter plays a cowboy who is sent to investigate a series of murders of miners in the southwestern United States. Tex soon discovers that the murders are related to a gang of outlaws who are trying to take over the miners' ranches, so he infiltrates the outlaw gang by posing as an outlaw named "El Gringo." He soon gains the gang's trust and begins working with them to commit crimes. Tex discovers that the gang leader, Evans, is responsible for the miners' murders and plans to catch him and bring him to justice. During all this, Tex falls in love with a young woman named Lolita, who is also trying to help the law catch Evans, and they begin to work together to put an end to Evans' criminal career.
Film debut of Tex Ritter. Just prior to the start of filming, Ritter went to a barber shop for a haircut. He fell asleep in the barber's chair and too much hair was cut off. This is why in most of the film he keeps his hat clamped tightly on his head, and when he does remove it he's wearing a very obvious wig.
