Garden Store - Part 1: Family Friend

Taking place in the 1940s during the German occupation in Czechoslovakia, this installment follows the story of three young women and two small children as they await the return of their imprisoned husbands and fathers. The women, forced into a family union by the war, are being helped greatly by family friend and doctor, Jiri. A telling melodrama full of fidelity, desire, guilt, and love, this portrait created by the successful Czech duo of authors Petr Jarchovsky and Jan Hrebejk unveils the impact of war on the psyche of individuals and families as a whole.
