Bonaire is part of the Netherlands Antilles (the ABC islands) made up of Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. It lies 50 miles north of Venezuela, outside the Caribbean hurricane belt. It is well known among divers to be the "Shore Diving Capital of the World." Drive around the island and you will find the reef locations marked with yellow painted stones along parking areas.
