Zara of Granada

Eight years after Alain de Montfort rescues a scrappy, irrepressible child from rapacious French soldiers, a now-grown Zara returns the favor. When Alain is coerced into an unpalatable marriage, Zara provides a last-minute escape on horseback. Together they flee into the Granada hills, pursued by soldiers and living by their wits, until they find themselves in even greater danger, falling in love.
