Several years ago, I left Byron for a trip around the world, to see and explore those many places that had a special appeal at various phases of my life. In some ways this was a pilgrimage, seeking sources of the Australian identity, including the Burma Railway, Gallipoli, and embracing the genesis of our cultural heritage and the truth beyond this.
This material is about people and places, some touristy, others less familiar.
It is descriptive, discursive and philosophical, concerned with the shifting attitudes and traditions of different cultures, the commonality of human experience, the universality of all existence, and the release and beauty that lies in surrendering to that.
And this awakening to awareness is what is really going on here, we are all in on this, in that we share.
I wish to express my thanks and gratitude to the many people I met along the way: tour guides and locals, other travellers, all those who were part of this exploratory and defining process.
