The Wreck of the Golden Mary' is a short story written by Charles Dickens, an English author best-remembered today for 'Oliver Twist', 'The Great Expectations', and 'A Christmas Carol'. In this tale, Dickens used a first-person perspective to tell the story from the eyes of Golden Mary's captain, Ravender, who had to make a difficult choice on which of his ship's crews should be saved when only three lifeboats are available.
