About

THE MENTAL INTRUDER
by Dr. Niki Karavasilis
The Mental Intruder is a moving and deeply personal story that explores the devastating impact of Alzheimer's disease-the invisible thief that steals memory, identity, and connection.

Through the tender and reflective voice of Dr. Niki Karavasilis, this memoir captures the intimate journey of friendship and caregiving as one woman watches her dear friend slowly fade under the weight of dementia. It is a chronicle of love, loss, patience, and endurance-a testimony to how illness not only transforms those who suffer from it but also the hearts of those who care for them.

Dr. Karavasilis writes with honesty and compassion, revealing the complex emotional terrain of watching a once-brilliant mind dissolve into confusion and silence. She exposes the raw truth behind memory loss, the daily struggles of caretakers, and the spiritual resilience required to face a loved one's decline.

More than a medical or psychological narrative, The Mental Intruder is a human story-a meditation on aging, friendship, and the fragility of the mind. It invites readers to reflect on the meaning of connection, the strength of empathy, and the courage it takes to stand beside someone whose world is slowly vanishing.

Profound, poetic, and heartfelt, this book is both an act of remembrance and a call for compassion toward the millions touched by Alzheimer's and dementia around the world.

A touching and insightful memoir about friendship, caregiving, and the silent devastation of Alzheimer's disease.

Dr. Niki Karavasilis reveals the emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges of watching a loved one's mind fade away-and the enduring power of love and empathy that remains.
