About
In The Marriage Tree, Christopher G. Moore delivers a haunting addition to his Shamus Award-winning Vincent Calvino noir detective series. Set in the heart of Thailand, this atmospheric thriller explores the intersection of crime, mysticism, and human suffering. When a brilliant woman's bizarre "marriage of the dead" ceremonies lead to a series of ritualistic killings, private investigator Vincent Calvino uncovers a hidden world of human trafficking, corruption, and exploitation stretching from Bangkok's neon alleys to the Myanmar border. The mysterious "marriage tree," rooted in ancient Thai beliefs, becomes both symbol and clue in a case where justice and karma intertwine.Combining the grit of hardboiled detective fiction with rich cultural insight, Moore reveals a Southeast Asia both spiritual and sinister. The Marriage Tree is a masterful fusion of noir suspense, moral complexity, and the ghosts that linger in the modern world. Heaven Lake Press was founded in 1998.
