Project management is one of those professions that has sort of evolved into what it is now. It startedas part of management and then became more specialized. I think the problem is that projectmanagement has never really been a proper discipline (in the same way marketing or engineering). Alot of people stumbled into project management, almost like something to do on the 'side of their desk.'as part of their normal job. With the massive amount of change in progress, there needs to be proper discipline. This is one of the motivations for writing this book because I thought I could contributeto the knowledge and experience base to try and support project management generally.
