What's the worst that could happen? When Rosie accepts an invitation to spend the night in a long-abandoned house with a reputation for being haunted, she expects nothing more than a few unsettling noises and a good story to laugh about later. She doesn't believe in ghosts, and she certainly doesn't believe in the legend of Evil Mary - the vengeful spirit said to stalk the halls of Wetherley House more than a century after her death. She should have listened. Wetherley House is steeped in blood-soaked history. In the late nineteenth century, a violent encounter on a lonely country road set off a chain of events so cruel and depraved that the truth was hidden away beneath the house itself.
