Raised and educated as a child in Tuskegee, Alabama, she received her bachelors degree from the University of Montevallo and her Master of Arts in Writing from the University of North Alabama. She currently teaches English Composition and World Literature and enjoys participating in local poetry events. Other hobbies include crocheting and enjoying abundance of artistic events in the North Alabama cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, and Decatur.
