Sisters Meta and Claudia resent the arrival of a new governess in the form of Miss Strongitharm, who seems to have very strong ideas on what girls should and shouldn't be allowed to do. When they travel to Scotland, to spend the summer at their uncle's castle, they resent even more that their freedom is curtailed, in contrast to Meta's twin brother, but they soon realise there is some mystery surrounding their new governess as well as around an unexpected and unwelcome guest. Can the girls uncover the secrets and learn to appreciate the charms of both governess and guest?
