This book is designed to help you meet the application requirements for federal positions. These requirements may consist of submitting an on-line application (via USAJOBS.gov or another application system), submitting a paper résumé, or using an application form such as the OF-612. There is not one single method of applying for a federal job, and it has been that way since the 1980s. Individual agencies can and do specify the manner in which they want candidates to apply for a job. The most popular method of application (required by many agencies) is the on-line application.
