Champions have an inept ability to be victorious in the face of attempted defeat on many levels on difficulty. The essence of perseverance can be found in the application of learned lessons. Life decisions come with positive and negative repercussions. Over my life, I have made choices that provided me with a one-way path to prison. While incarcerated, I made more bad decisions that extended that portion of my life. Not until I made up my mind to do better, did I realize that I could do more help than hurt to myself and others around me. Prison changed my life. This book outlines how I persevered with the heart of a champion.
For 20 years, Kelvin has made his mark providing housing and supportive services to homeless and returning citizens. Early in his return from incarceration, Kelvin discovered, in order to become the man, he desired to be he had to put down the drugs and commit to being the change he needed. He focused on building his own character and adding positive characteristics to himself in a real way. Today Kelvin has been a living example of what can happen if you focus on doing the right thing, not the easy thing.
