About
The Nightingale and the Emperor is one of Hans Christian Andersen's best-known stories. It deals with simplicity with complex themes, such as the relations of power and hierarchy, the superficiality of the old courts in contrast with the beauty of the natural world and the possible exchanges between beings from different social classes. Taisa Borges' imagery reading for this fairy tale is part of the world commemorations for the bicentennial of Andersen's birth, celebrated in 2005.
