Mila's Mask/ La Máscara de Mila is the story of a little girl in the United States who spends a great deal of time at her grandparents' house which is full of colorful folk art from Mexico.It's a bilingual picture book based on the author's own personal experience as she discovered, to her amazement, that her two year old granddaughter was a fan of Mexican folk art.The non-fiction book is intended as a read-aloud for children ages 4-8 and features engaging photographs and comprehensible text designed to develop language in both English and Spanish, while exposing young children to traditional Mexican folk art and the artisans who make it.Through this book, children (and adults) will learn about the tradition of creating handmade objects that is such a vital part of the rich Mexican culture.
