This is the first general history in English dedicated specifically to the nation state that existed in the south of Italy until 1861. Rooted in the medieval kingdoms of Naples and Sicily, the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was the wealthiest and most populous of the pre-unitary Italian states. It was also the most industrialized, and certainly the most important. Here is the story of a nation and its people. This work is a slightly condensed version of the print edition, with the complete text, maps and genealogical tables, but no endnotes or bibliography.
