It's More Than Just About Hair is the story of discovery. Kelly Montgomery shares her personal journey of realizing that it's more to a client than their head of hair. Although It's More Than Just About Hair was used as a tagline that sounded good, Kelly realized she wasn't treating clients appropriately. Clients are not mannequins; as a Stylist you have to communicate with clients and get to know them. A Stylist may be gifted at doing hair, but they must talk to a client to understand their service desires and what works best for them. Throughout her journey, Kelly kept messing up, while taking a look in the mirror, she realized that she was the common denominator of what was wrong. The mirror's reflection allowed Kelly to realize that "I was messing up, and I had to figure out a way to do it right." Although it took Kelly a long time to get it right, she was so appreciative of the fact that she was given an opportunity to change her bad behavior.
Throughout Kelly's discovery, she also recognized there is a better way to service, communicate, and create with clients, through the strategy of being clear. Kelly discovered that, it was more than just about hair, it was a partnership between Stylist and client. A client's input is valuable and what they desire to see matters. Equipped with these new tools of listening, communicating, and with the intention to understand a client, changed how Kelly viewed what she did in the field of cosmetology. She was no longer frustrated and discouraged, and afraid Kelly was equipped with a new tool that would allow her to engage with a client in a way she had never done before; the BE CLEAR strategy worked! When you use the BE CLEAR strategy correctly it will continue to work. Now Kelly view clients differently and sees clients in a way that it's more than just about their hair. Kelly is CLEAR.
