Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy is the most famous book by the Austrian theorist Joseph Schumpeter and the work that makes his thought unclassifiable within hegemonic economic currents. The author begins the text with a critical examination of Marxism, devotes himself to a long analytical eulogy of capitalism, although he foresees reasons for its end, and investigates the premises of socialism and the connections of this system with democracy. A classic published in several countries, this edition receives a new translation into Portuguese and has an introductory text by Joseph Eugene Stiglitz, US economist who won the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.
