Two marines - the human Mead, and Stix, a modified Replicant - had been left for dead after their Off-world mission was betrayed. Having escaped back to Earth and the neon underbelly of Tokyo, they survive as off-the-grid private detectives while searching for the traitor who killed their comrades.
Searching for a missing woman ensnares Mead and Stix into a deadly power struggle between rival Yakuza clans and the secretive Cheshire Group, a 'yami kigyo' ("shadow corporation"), with its own brand of death-dealing combat Replicants.
But of greater concern to the bootleg detectives is the elite Blade Runner sent by the Tyrell Corporation to track them down.
In a city where loyalty is a commodity and survival never guaranteed, Mead and Stix must outsmart them all - or die trying.
