About

"The prison years did not seem too long for me, for I discovered, alone in my cell, that beyond belief and love there is delight in God: a deep extraordinary ecstasy of happiness that is like nothing in this world."
On February 29, 1948, Romanian secret police abducted Richard Wurmbrand off the streets of Bucharest because of his bold Christian witness. Despite the torture and great suffering he endured in a Communist prison, he loved and encouraged both his cellmates and his oppressors through the hope he had in Christ. In his book In God's Underground, Richard shares his story of triumphant faith amid deep anguish. RICHARD WURMBRAND (1909–2001) endured 14 years of prison in Communist Romania for his Christian witness. His wife, Sabina (1913–2000), spent three years in prison for her faith. After Richard and Sabina were released from prison, they founded The Voice of the Martyrs in 1967 to help families of imprisoned Christians in Communist nations and other countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith.
