AUDIOBOOK

About

• A book of high political stakes: It is deeply concerned with identity and poetic hybridity, bringing in dictionary entries and poetry sequences together to shape the experience of being extracted from one's country.

• Small press poetry darling: Dorantes already has a presence in the small press community because of her book Style (Kenning, 2016) and a collaboration with the poet Rodrigo Flores Sanchez, INTERVENIR/INTERVENE (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2015). She has many professional and personal relationships in LA and in Mexico and this book will be particularly fascinating for readers who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

• Activist appeal: Sizable blog readership (http://www.doloresdorantes.blogspot.com/) and is active on social media (@DoloresDorantes). Journalism and activist communities: has a documentary-autobiographical book titled Estructura, a performance titled Prema, and a documentary film titled Global, and founded the organization Cielo Portatil, which is a nonprofit organization for free education, based in LA.
• Award-winning translator: Meyers is an esteemed translator who has served as mentor for ALTA's travel fellows. As a poet and translator, she has won or been a finalist for many awards, including being awarded a residency at Banff International Literary Translation Centre (BILTC).

• Meyers currently resides in Mexico City while Dorantes lives in El Paso.
