About
"How do you explain that the world just … broke?"
When kaiju and alien attacks threaten humanity, six brilliant twelve year olds are recruited to join The Ultra Academy-an elite training program run by the legendary SSSP. Together, they must master advanced technology, uncover ancient mysteries, and combine their unique skills to defeat creatures that defy scientific explanation.
Still, even geniuses have limits. What happens when you give everything you have, and it still isn't enough?
Legendary superhero Ultraman stands guard over Earth, ready to assist. But will he show up? Will he appear in time to make a difference? The fate of the world now depends on six misfit kids and a hero nobody fully understands.
So hey, it's the end of the world!
(Or maybe it's just the start of a better ONE?)
Either way, science, friendship, and epic kaiju battles await in The Ultra Academy series!

REBECCA K. REYNOLDS fell in love with monsters when she was nine-years-old, watching the vintage movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. To this day, she loves curling up to watch almost any film involving overgrown insects, raging reptiles, atomic spiders, mutant scorpions, invisible men, atomic blobs, carnivorous plants, giant octopi, sub-aquatic dinosaurs, and frogs with questionable agendas. Rebecca taught high school literature for seven years, then created a modern prose rendering of Edmund Spenser's 1590s The Faerie Queene, which will be released on November 11, 2025. Her other creative work includes writing lyrics for Ron Block of Alison Krauss, Union Station and speaking at conferences in America and abroad. She is also a professional audiobook reader. Rebecca is now the Associate Publisher for Oasis Family Media.
Ultra Academy UNITE!: A Review of "Beware the Baleful Baltan"

Ultraman is celebrating his 60th anniversary by taking the world-especially America-by storm. After decades of legal entanglements preventing them from importing Japan's greatest superhero, Tsuburaya Productions has become "tokusatsu Santa Claus." Not only are they releasing the Ultra Series on DVD and blu-ray (and in 2026, on 4K) through Mill Creek, but they're licensing the character to Marvel Comics and Netflix Animation, among others. Now, Ultraman takes on middle grade fiction with book one of The Ultra Academy: Beware the Baleful Baltan by Rebecca K. Reynolds. (Sidenote: I love the Stan Lee-style alliteration of the title). It's a faithful sequel (of sorts) to the original 1966 TV series and manages to be a solid, if imperfect, new story with a fun cast of "Ultra Kennys" who give the Science Patrol a run for their money.
To help combat the unrelenting alien and kaiju threats to Earth, the Science Patrol recruits six 12-year-old prodigies to join the Ultra Academy, a training ground for the next generation of SSSP members. Getting used to their new "school" is hard enough for these
