"Amy Cameron's performance of this story of a lighthouse keeper's daughter who saves a ship's passengers from drowning is inspiring, openhearted, and almost musical. Grace Darling's father manages a lighthouse off the coast of England in the early 1800s. In Cameron's capable hands, Grace's steadfastness is clearly apparent--she loves her lighthouse, her island, her family, and her dog named Happy. But after almost drowning as a small child, Grace is terrified of the sea and must overcome that fear and learn to row to become the hero she turns out to be. Cameron delights in creating an individual voice for each family member. Grandpa is gruff and kind, and brother Robbie is excited by the owl nesting in the castle walls on the mainland.
