About
Mr. John Smith is a British student of Egyptology who travels to Paris. The main purpose of his trip is to visit the Louvre and research some papyri. Unfortunately, tired from going round the museum, Smith falls asleep in one its the many corners. When he wakes up, he sees an Egyptian-looking man performing a ritual on a mummy. Things get even stranger as the Egyptian man unwraps the mummy, uncovers a beautiful woman and hugs her.
Why is Smith interested in those particular papyri? Do they hold a secret that needs to be revealed? Who is the man that Smith saw at the museum and was he even real at all? How will the young student end up? Could it all have been a dream?
This short story about adventure and mystery by Sir Conan Doyle was published in 1890.
